A South Bay designer clothing favorite—the women behind Finley shirts

Finley Shirts are a favorite among fashionistas everywhere and fans of South Bay designer clothing. But who are the women behind this savvy line?

Born and raised in Texas, Finley Moll is designer, businesswoman, and philanthropist who paired with her brilliant business partner, Heather McNeill, to found iconic Finley Shirts in 1995. The two met when they worked together for Dallas fashion designer Jan Barboglio, where Finley was Head Designer. When the sportswear label closed its doors in 1994, the two started brainstorming and directed their amazing energy towards the creation of a new business: Finley Shirts.

Finley’s love of fashion was inspired by watching her glamorous mother get dressed for the Houston social scene. It translates well in Finley Shirts, which are extremely popular at our fashion clothing store, due to their formfitting, feminine silhouettes that frame women’s faces beautifully.

Finley Shirts has growing its fan base by focusing on feminine, crisp, tailored and fun blouses for women. In 2006, Marty Washington joined the Finley team, and the group continues to grow the company by sticking try to their mission, “To provide a crisp, clean answer to a trendy world.”

Designed and manufactured in the USA, the brand’s iconic look is the epitome of classic yet trendy South Bay designer clothing. Unique construction details such as draping, tucking, and pleating results in flattering fits that are unrivalled.

Color tips from our fashion clothing store

Color is everywhere this year—and from the Fall/Winter collections we’ve seen at every cutting-edge fashion clothing store in LA, it’s here to stay.

Color is such a fun way to add pop to your outfit, and a great way to do it is with accessories. To get more specific, many women are flocking to the gorgeous array of vibrant hues that are reflected in designer shoes this year. Fashionistas everywhere reflected this summer’s electric shades in their shoe and sandal collection. As a result, many of the regular clients of our fashion clothing store asked us how to make colorful shoes work with their outfits.

Whether you subscribe to the laidback South Bay style or fashion designer clothing, you can make this trend work for you. The most important principle is to embrace experimentation—be daring! Bold shoes are always great for attention grabbing, but you can make it work with whatever you’re most comfortable with, summer’s vivid brights or the richer, subtle palette we’re seeing for fall: oxblood, French roast, teal and cobalt.

An easy route to take is to pair the shoe color with one of the colors in your ensemble. To get an edgier look that can work with any style, from Redondo Beach fashion to sleek European chic, choose one of the colors in a pattern and match your shoes to that. The more vibrant the color, the more it will pop.

Another way to make elements of your outfit contrast in a flattering way is to pair some bright shoes with your favorite jeans. If you style is more South Bay casual than haute fashion designer clothing, try some colorful wedges for a fun, chill look.

A very sophisticated look to embody for fall is a monochromatic one—try pairing your outfit with stockings and shoes that are all the same color. Wearing all one color elongates the silhouette, making you appear taller and slimmer.

Black-and-white was everywhere on the runways and at Redondo Beach fashion shows for fall. Why not add some flair with a bright shoe that’s not black or white? This is a great place avenue for blending oxblood or indigo into your look.

Style tips from our fashion clothing store

Lafayette 148
Are you trying to achieve a leaner silhouette? If so, our fashion clothing shop has some great style tips for leaning out your look with some key wardrobe items.

If you’re trying to hide your tummy, why not embrace the menswear look that’s become so popular among the Redondo Beach fashion elite? Try a menswear blazer with everything from a skirt or dressed up shorts to jeans or pants. The boxy, longer cut counters bulge with its structured volume. Just make sure that the sleeves fit well so it doesn’t look like you’re swimming in your ensemble.

If you’re looking to balance out broad shoulders, try wide-set straps and necklines—we’ve got a multitude of stylish options at our fashion clothing store, including chic dresses and tops. Believe it or not, wide set necklines and straps, meaning they hit the outer edges of your collarbone, will put your entire frame into proportion easily and effortlessly.

If a longer torso is what you’re working with and you want it to look shorter, try another Redondo Beach fashion favorite—high waisted pants, which are very much in fashion this season. They will skim your body at your natural waist, resulting in a proportional look and the illusion of longer legs. High waisted skirts will do the trick as well.
If you’re searching for special occasion wardrobe or even dresses for the Mother of the Bride (or groom!) and a short midsection is your issue, you can create the illusion of a longer torso with a dropwaist dress. When the seam hits below your hip bones, your torso will be elongated. Make sure to wear heels so that your legs don’t appear short.

Whether you’re looking for casual summer frocks or dresses for the Mother of the Bride, if you want to create curves, choose another popular trend this season: the peplum. The flouncy details of this popular look create an hourglass effect without adding bulk to your frame. Just make sure the peplum is tucked in between your hip and ribcage.
